“SEEDING Dallas V” Urban Garden and Small Farm Training Event

Participants learn about the latest in food safety and sanitation practices to apply at a garden or small farm.

The Urban Agriculture Action Team of the Dallas Coalition for Hunger Solutions recently held a fifth annual training in its SEEDING Dallas urban garden and small farm learning series. Seeds of Faith Community Garden, located at Greater Garth Chapel AME Church in south Dallas, hosted the event.

Following a tour of the host community garden, urban gardeners with varying levels of skill and knowledge learned about the latest in food safety and sanitation best practices for cultivating, harvesting and storing their produce.

As part of the training, attendees participated in a DIY “make & take” activity to create a simple portable hand washing station to install at their growing sites.

The Urban Agriculture Action Team is co-chaired by Susie Marshall, founder and Executive Director of GROW North Texas, and Candace Thompson, a Dallas urban agriculture advocate.
