About Us

The Dallas Coalition for Hunger Solutions (DCHS) was created in 2012. It was spearheaded by founding chair and former Congresswoman Eddie Bernice Johnson, the Texas Hunger Initiative, now the Baylor Collaborative on Hunger & Poverty, the North Texas Food Bank and several other nonprofits and religious organizations that make up the Leadership Team. Through five different Action Teams, we bring together community leaders who are engaged in the work of addressing hunger and poverty to take action in a collaborative setting.

VISION: The DCHS exists to ensure all in Greater Dallas live in a community where there is sustainable and equitable access to healthy and nutritious food.

MISSION: Through cross-sector collaboration, DCHS works with the community to identify challenges and solutions towards achieving equitable access to healthy and nutritious food.

DCHS Works Through 5 Action Teams

The Coalition is guided by a Leadership Team which includes chairs of the five Action Teams.

Once a year the Coalition holds a Hunger Summit to invite the entire Dallas area community to learn about the activities of the Coalition and the ways they can be involved in ending hunger locally.
